Welcome!
Dear participants, dear friends of Jessup —
Welcome to the German National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court!
Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and its Law School are very honoured and extremely pleased to host the competition and to welcome Mooties and Judges to Erlangen and Nuremberg – albeit only in a digital format.
Unlike the J-VID-18 pandemic, the Covid-19 pandemic is very real and continues to challenge our daily lives. Given these circumstances, ILSA decided to organise the 2021 Jessup competition as a virtual competition and the German National Round will do the same. The whole competition will be based on a special platform accesible through the JessApp.
We wished we could have welcomed you in person in Nuremberg and show you its historic sites, including the “birth place” of international criminal law – the historic Court Room 600, but this will have to wait for another day.
I wish to thank our sponsors which stood with the Jessup despite the pandemic and our colleagues at FAU who helped as judges, bailiffs and support staff and most sincerely our National Administrator Martin Gronemann and Assistant National Administrator Rachel Hoepfner for all the hard work in the last weeks and moths.
Once again, welcome to all and good luck!
Prof. Dr. Markus Krajewski
